Hello friend,

It’s now been six months since I lost Red. He used to lay on my chest and purr away. While taking him for his treatments he got weaker and didn't climb up to snuggle until the night before I had to put him to sleep. What a feat that must have been for him. Almost as if he knew this was goodbye. Now I am facing the same battle and wish he was there to comfort me. I began chemo last week and radiation. Will have chemo once a week for 5 weeks and radiation every day for 6 or 7 weeks. Bella stays by my side and Simba is always nearby but there will always be that special place in my heart for Red.

My plan is to focus on marketing and organizing my studio in addition to new work. I will paint when I can. Feeling tired as expected but so far not as bad as anticipated. Hopefully, it will continue.

A Surprise for My Cousin

Kindness has meant more than ever these past few weeks. My cousin recently insisted on driving me to my first chemotherapy treatment, and he’s volunteered to take me again this coming week. His generosity meant so much to me that I wanted to thank him in a way that only I could.

Using photos he had shared with the family, I secretly painted a portrait of his beloved dog, Baily. It was hard keeping it a surprise, but I finally had the chance to give it to him yesterday. Seeing his reaction made every brushstroke worthwhile.

Moments like these remind me that art isn’t just something we hang on a wall—it can become a way to say “thank you” and celebrate the people we love.
